The LDS V994 is a high-force, water-cooled electrodynamic shaker rated at 65,000 lbf (289.1 kN) sine force and 60,000 lbf (266.9 kN) random force, for vibration and shock testing of very large payloads. A 29.9 in (760 mm) armature pairs a high-performance armature design with water-cooled coils to deliver 75 g sine acceleration, 74.8 in/s (1.9 m/s) velocity, and 2.0 in (50.8 mm) of continuous displacement. An automatic armature and body position load compensation system handles larger loads, and the internal load support carries up to 11,023 lb (5,000 kg). The shaker is driven by the LDS DPA-K amplifier range, up to the DPA 280K, and has been used in single- and multi-shaker configurations to test products such as satellites and missiles.

What it is used for
Some of the use cases for the LDS V994 include:
3-axis testing of complete satellite systems: full-system vibration testing in single- or multi-shaker setups.
Avionics and military hardware testing: qualification of avionics, missiles, and defense systems.
Structural dynamics testing: high-force excitation of very large structures.
Clean room environments: vibration testing where contamination control is required.
The heaviest test articles: payloads up to 11,023 lb (5,000 kg) on the internal load support, the highest in the LDS range.
Multi-shaker, multi-axis applications: combining several shakers to drive very large payloads.
Key features
Water-cooled coils: a high-performance armature design combined with water-cooled coils delivers strong acceleration and velocity performance.
Automatic load compensation: an automatic armature and body position load compensation system accommodates larger loads.
Very large armature: 29.9 in (760 mm) diameter, with M12 or 1/2 UNC inserts as standard.
Nine amplifier configurations: the DPA-K range runs from 90 to 280 kVA in 8 kVA increments, so force can be sized to the test program.
Lin-E-Air trunnions: standard, with a body rotation gearbox for vertical or horizontal operation. Solid trunnions are available on request.
Very stiff suspension: 410,000 lbf/in (71.8 kN/mm) cross-axial and 94.7 × 10⁶ lbf·in/rad (10,700 kN·m/rad) rotational stiffness.
Low gauss option: reduces stray magnetic field from 20 gauss (2.0 mT) to 3 gauss (0.3 mT).
Options: combination shaker/slip table base, chamber support kit, and thermal barrier.
Why engineers pick it
65,000 lbf sine force. 65,000 lbf (289.1 kN) sine and 130,129 lbf (578.8 kN) half-sine shock with the DPA 280K-TC.
Scales with the amplifier. Nine DPA-K configurations run from 30,100 lbf (133.9 kN) with the DPA 90/140K-DC up to the full 65,000 lbf (289.1 kN).
Built for the heaviest payloads. 11,023 lb (5,000 kg) of internal load support and 410,000 lbf/in (71.8 kN/mm) cross-axial stiffness keep very large test articles on-axis.
Proven on large programs. The V900 series has been used in single- and multi-shaker configurations to test satellites and missiles.
