The LDS V850 is a medium-force electrodynamic shaker rated at up to 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) sine force, built for vibration and mechanical shock testing with sinusoidal, random, or transient excitation. It comes with a choice of two armatures. The V850-240 has a 9.45 in (240 mm) armature for up to 125 gn sine acceleration. The V850-440 has a 17.32 in (440 mm) armature for large fixtures and the full 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) rating. Both versions deliver 2.0 in (50.8 mm) of peak-to-peak displacement and 78.7 in/s (2.0 m/s) velocity, carry 770 lb (350 kg) on the internal load support, and are driven by the LDS SPA-K switching amplifier from 8 to 32 kVA.

What it is used for
Some of the use cases for the LDS V850 include:
Sine testing: swept and dwell testing at up to 125 gn with the V850-240.
Random vibration testing: random profiles up to 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) rms with the V850-440 and SPA32K.
Mechanical shock testing: 2 ms half-sine pulses up to 9,976 lbf (44.4 kN).
Transient testing: transient excitation for time-history replication.
Heavy payloads: test articles supported by the 770 lb (350 kg) internal load support.
Horizontal and under-chamber testing: using a combo slip table, the body rotation gearbox, or under-chamber operation.
Key features
Two armature sizes: 9.45 in (240 mm) for maximum acceleration, or 17.32 in (440 mm) for large fixtures and maximum force.
Four amplifier sizes: SPA8K through SPA32K, so force can be sized to the test program.
Two mounting choices: solid trunnions, or Lin-E-Air air-isolated trunnions with a body suspension resonance below 5 Hz.
2.0 in (50.8 mm) displacement: long stroke for low-frequency testing, with velocity to 78.7 in/s (2.0 m/s).
Internal load support: carries 770 lb (350 kg), controlled from the pneumatics pedestal box.
Flush or raised armature inserts: available on both armature sizes.
Pneumatics pedestal box: emergency stop, Lin-E-Air and load support control valves, and armature position indicator.
Wide option list: combo slip table, V-groove castors, air glide, chamber floor support, cooling fan silencer, acoustic enclosure, thermal management, and head expander.
Why engineers pick it
A platform that grows with the lab. Start with an SPA8K and scale through SPA16K and SPA24K to the SPA32K. On the V850-440, sine force climbs from 1,290 lbf (5.7 kN) to 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) across that range.
High acceleration or large fixtures. The V850-240 reaches 125 gn sine. The V850-440's 17.32 in (440 mm) armature carries large fixtures at full rated force.
Isolation built into the mount. Lin-E-Air trunnions keep body suspension resonance below 5 Hz, allowing testing down to 5 Hz. On air isolation mounts, body resonance is below 10 Hz, with an 8 Hz recommended minimum for base mounting.
Flexible system forms. Lin-E-Air trunnion-mounted with a body rotation gearbox, combined with a horizontal hydrostatic slip table, or configured for under-chamber operation.
