The LDS V830 is a medium-force electrodynamic shaker rated at up to 2,205 lbf (9.8 kN) sine force, built for vibration and mechanical shock testing with sinusoidal, random, or transient excitation. It comes with a choice of two armatures. The V830-185 has a 7.28 in (185 mm) armature for up to 120 gn sine acceleration and a usable range from DC to 3,500 Hz. Both versions deliver 2.0 in (50.8 mm) of peak-to-peak displacement and 78.7 in/s (2.0 m/s) velocity, carry 350 lb (160 kg) on the internal load support, and are driven by the LDS SPA-K switching amplifier.

What it is used for
Some of the use cases for the LDS V830 include:
Sine testing: swept and dwell testing at up to 120 gn with the V830-185.
Random vibration testing: random profiles up to 2,205 lbf (9.8 kN) rms with the V830-335.
Mechanical shock testing: 2 ms half-sine pulses up to 5,644 lbf (25.1 kN).
Transient testing: transient excitation for time-history replication.
Larger fixtures on a medium-force shaker: mounting larger fixtures and test articles on the 13.19 in (335 mm) armature of the V830-335.
Horizontal and under-chamber testing: using a combo slip table, the body rotation gearbox, or under-chamber operation.
Key features
Two armature sizes: 7.28 in (185 mm) for maximum acceleration and bandwidth, or 13.19 in (335 mm) for larger fixtures.
Two mounting choices: solid trunnions, or Lin-E-Air air-isolated trunnions with a body suspension resonance below 5 Hz.
2.0 in (50.8 mm) displacement: long stroke for low-frequency testing, with velocity to 78.7 in/s (2.0 m/s).
Internal load support: carries 350 lb (160 kg), controlled from the pneumatics pedestal box.
Flush or raised armature inserts: available on both armature sizes.
Low stray magnetic field: under 5 gauss (0.5 mT) at 6 in (150 mm) above the table, full field.
Pneumatics pedestal box: emergency stop, Lin-E-Air and load support control valves, and armature position indicator.
Wide option list: combo slip table, V-groove castors, air glide, chamber floor support, cooling fan silencer, acoustic enclosure, thermal management, and head expander.
Why engineers pick it
Match the armature to the job. Choose the V830-185 for 120 gn and DC to 3,500 Hz on smaller payloads, or the V830-335 for 2,205 lbf (9.8 kN) sine and random on larger fixtures.
Isolation built into the mount. Lin-E-Air trunnions keep body suspension resonance below 5 Hz, allowing testing down to 5 Hz. On air isolation mounts, body resonance is below 10 Hz, with an 8 Hz recommended minimum for base mounting.
Scales with the amplifier. The same shaker runs on an SPA8K or SPA16K, so force can be sized to the test program.
Flexible system forms. Lin-E-Air trunnion-mounted with a body rotation gearbox, combined with a horizontal hydrostatic slip table, or configured for under-chamber operation.
The V830 system
LDS SPA-K switching amplifier: SPA8K or SPA16K; 100 V rms rated output, 80 A rms per 8 kVA increment.
Pneumatics pedestal box: emergency stop, Lin-E-Air suspension air control, armature position indicator, and load support control.
Shaker cooling fan: 50 Hz or 60 Hz, with an optional silencer.
Site requirements
Power: 3-phase, 380 to 500 V, 50/60 Hz as standard. A low-voltage option covers 200 to 220 V, 50/60 Hz. Maximum steady-state input is 21.9 kVA with the SPA8K and 29.1 kVA with the SPA16K, including amplifier, cooling fan, and pedestal box.
Compressed air: 100 psi (6.9 bar).
Ambient: shaker +45 to 86 °F (+7 to 30 °C); amplifier +41 to 86 °F (+5 to 30 °C).
Acoustics: 110 dBA shaker, 91 dBA cooling fan, and 69 dBA amplifier at 3.3 ft (1 m).
