The LDS V8 Series is a family of medium-force electrodynamic shakers rated from 9,442 lbf (42.00 kN) to 13,000 lbf (57.83 kN) sine force. They are built for vibration and mechanical shock testing with sinusoidal, random, or transient excitation. Two armature sizes are available: the V8-440 with a 17.32 in (440 mm) armature for up to 140 gn sine acceleration, and the V8-640 with a 25.20 in (640 mm) armature for larger fixtures. Both deliver 2.5 in (63.5 mm) of peak-to-peak displacement and carry 1,540 lb (700 kg) on the internal load support. They are driven by the LDS SPA-K switching amplifier at 40, 48, or 56 kVA.

What it is used for
Some of the use cases for the LDS V8 Series include:
High-force random vibration testing: random profiles up to 14,837 lbf (66.00 kN) rms with the V8-440 and SPA56K.
High-acceleration sine testing: swept and dwell testing at up to 140 gn with the V8-440.
Mechanical shock testing: 2 ms half-sine pulses up to 26,660 lbf (118.59 kN).
Heavy payloads: test articles supported by the 1,540 lb (700 kg) internal load support.
Large fixtures: mounting large fixtures on the 25.20 in (640 mm) armature of the V8-640.
Horizontal and under-chamber testing: using a combo slip table with guided head expander, the body rotation gearbox, or under-chamber operation.
Key features
Two armature sizes: V8-440 for high acceleration, V8-640 for larger fixtures.
Three amplifier sizes: SPA40K, SPA48K, or SPA56K.
2.5 in (63.5 mm) displacement: peak-to-peak stroke with 70.9 in/s (1.8 m/s) velocity.
High guidance stiffness: cross-axial stiffness of 158,000 lbf/in (27.6 kN/mm) on the V8-440 and 166,000 lbf/in (29.0 kN/mm) on the V8-640. Rotational stiffness is up to 397,000 lbf·ft/rad (538 kN·m/rad).
Internal load support: carries 1,540 lb (700 kg), controlled from the pneumatics pedestal box.
Two mounting choices: base-mounted, or Lin-E-Air air-isolated trunnions with a body suspension resonance below 5 Hz.
Low stray field: under 10 gauss (1.0 mT) trunnion-mounted and under 16 gauss (1.6 mT) base-mounted, at 6 in (150 mm) above the table.
Options: combo slip table, V-groove castors, air glide, chamber floor support, cooling fan silencer, thermal management, and head expander.
Why engineers pick it
Random force above sine force. The V8-440 is rated at 14,837 lbf (66.00 kN) rms random with the SPA56K, higher than its 13,000 lbf (57.83 kN) sine rating.
Built for heavy, offset loads. 1,540 lb (700 kg) of internal load support and cross-axial stiffness up to 166,000 lbf/in (29.0 kN/mm) keep large test articles on-axis.
140 gn on a 440 mm armature. The V8-440 reaches 140 gn sine and 100 gn random acceleration.
Flexible system forms. Lin-E-Air trunnion-mounted with a body rotation gearbox, combined with a horizontal hydrostatic slip table, or configured for under-chamber operation.
